University of Maryland Medical Center – Upper Chesapeake

Year: 2022
Cost: $410,213
Scope: Emergency flood mitigation/drying services following a reported rainwater intrusion affecting the infusion center, the waiting area on the second floor, the lobby/atrium, several small areas within the breast cancer area, and several small areas on the first floor below. PBI arrived on-site and met with Wohlsen and several members of the hospital staff. We walked the affected areas, and then we all met to come up with a plan. After several discussions, we agreed to contain the affected areas, set up true negative pressure, and remove all affected building materials, each night having to terminal clean the entire work area to meet ICRA standards. As of now, no additional leaks have happened, and all areas have been water tested to ensure they’re weather resistant. PBI will need to complete the repairs, and then we will return to terminal clean the work areas once again and begin to break down all critical barriers after all repairs are completed up to an acceptable point. Repairs following mitigation of affected drywall due to water from long-term construction going on, creating an envelope concern, allowing rain to infiltrate several areas of the Kaufman Cancer Center.
