PBI Commercial is leading a full interior remodel of the Howard University Welcome Center, including a major refresh of the main lobby to enhance the first impression for visitors, students, and faculty.
The project involves interior demolition, new wall framing, drywall installation, and updated architectural finishes throughout the Welcome Center. Flooring improvements include new carpet and vinyl systems, along with polishing and restoration of existing terrazzo flooring. Acoustic ceiling treatments and upgraded lighting are being installed to improve both aesthetics and functionality.
Mechanical and electrical upgrades are underway, including HVAC system improvements, new LED lighting, emergency lighting, and power infrastructure enhancements. The project also includes preparation and coordination for audiovisual systems, with dedicated framing, wiring, and finish modifications to support new technology installations.
Additional improvements include new cabinetry with quartz countertops, updated doors and storefront systems, window treatment replacements, and decorative enhancements within the lobby space. All work is being carefully phased to maintain safety and accessibility while delivering a modernized, high‑impact Welcome Center environment.
